This is a known bug in eclipse and as such has replicated into Spring STS.

It is caused by the maven-jar plugin.

This can be resolved by downloading and using the very latest version.

Currently STS 3.8.2.RELEASE

    Thank you for help. It really sucks that after all these years of Eclipse development still maven-eclipse errors happen in newest IDE versions. Eclipse hangs on artefactory indexing for ages etc. It really sucks and cost business a lot of money…
